Figurative painting, practiced or revisited by many painters, often takes on a different character from that achieved in the past. The colors, for example, in some more contemporary figurative painting, seem to live with more intense tones and increased timbral vivacity. The subjects also explore surfaces imbued mainly with naturalistic scenes, skillfully resolved on the pictorial plane.

This is the example offered by the works of Melania Golino, a sensitive artist with remarkable chromatic abilities, devoted mainly to the liveliness of rural and urban landscapes, as well as to still lifes that she knows how to render with a surprising vitality, especially when red intervenes, often faded with shades of gray-green.

Sometimes the landscape is expressed through luminous depths: an intense blue sky dotted with white clouds, in a visually pleasing contrast. When the artist focuses her attention on architecture, whether urban or rural, she captures the variety of structures and the chromatic expressions characteristic of these two genres, whether spontaneous or predetermined.

Melania Golino truly excels in her still lifes, whose compositions exude a natural splendor, interspersed with green leaves that make them resemble bouquets of flowers. Other equally pleasing compositions include circular baskets accompanied by long-necked bottles and wine decanters: scenes of simple domestic life, in which this extremely sensitive artist manages to capture equally poetic aspects.

A painting, therefore, capable of being authentically itself, made at the same time dense with descriptive meanings thanks to the intelligence and sensitivity of the artist, as is even more evident in his portraits, where it is not just a question of resemblance, but of capturing the density and naturalness of expression.

Tiziana Tamburi

“Melania Golino’s works are animated by a strong expressive charge, a particular vivacity… Painting landscapes fascinates her, emotionally electrifies her, and allows her to free herself on the support, in a myriad of nuances and colors. The chromatic patterns are distributed in well-designed spaces, and the brush seems to move freely and confidently on the canvas, without reserve or hesitation. A careful observer cannot fail to notice the sincere passion that Melania nourishes for the natural world, and how much she feels herself an integral part of this complex and fascinating whole.”

<< The fiery colors, the emotional intensity of the scenographic composition process, the popularly inspired subjects of the portraits, and the nudity of the bodies translate the strength of feelings, revealing in their attitudes the softness of the flesh. These elements aim to unveil human nature, in parallel with the poetry of the flowers and the chromatic power of the landscapes.

The mysterious mixture of themes, through the analysis of the earthly experience, leads to perceive (or to make perceive) the force of universality. Melania Golino expresses all this with a palette where the colors - always rich - capture environments that give off a "sensible" transforming into cinematic dissolutions (see the scene of the Tuna Fishing), or into vast sea and land landscapes... >>.

Searching for new forms of expression, always essentially figurative, constitutes for Melania Golino a constant incentive to pursue and evolve in her artistic dimension. Thanks to a solid technical experience acquired during in-depth academic studies in Palermo, this original painter offers, with remarkable stylistic effects, a vast creative universe where the analysis of nature mixes with a deep reflection on the human, his moods and captivating slices of life. Faces, “polarized” in pictorial close-ups, translated into pigments and colored strokes, transmit the current visual emotions that the artist knows how to offer as new creative inspirations. Originally from Sicily (born in Syracuse), Melania Golino has been awarded several prestigious prizes for the exceptional quality of her artistic research and the luminous warmth of her chromatic palettes. Invited to participate in renowned group exhibitions in Italy (Rome - Palazzo Barberini, historic gallery Forum Interart, Fori Imperiali, Naples - Castel Nuovo) and abroad, she has seen her works positively acclaimed by critics and the international press during her numerous exhibitions. Presented in important art catalogs and specialized magazines, her works are featured in public and private collections.
